I recently purchased this postally used postcard of Iquitos with a navy cancel.

The picture postcard was used from Iquitos in 1904. There is a navy oval violet cancel
"Comandancia Principal Milicias Navales" - "Loreto". Also there is another violet circle "Capitania del Puerto".

I have never seen this particular cancel. I have looked at thousands of covers from Peru and none of them had this violet cancel. I don't know how rare this may be and asking around no one has ever seen this.

Does anyone have any details on this. How unusual or usual is it. I would think anything from Iquitos would be hard to come by considering what it took to get there 100 years ago.

Thank you,
