1894 to 1898
From June 1894 to June 1898 a total of
49 monthly issues of the "Die Briefmarke" magazine were issued and
posted using printed to private order newspaper wrappers. The following
is based
on my observations of the copies I have in my possesion.
PLATE 1

Type 1 - 150 mm to 154 wide; 297 to 303 deep, broken line
below "ru" of Drucksache
I have copies of this version dated 12.06.1894, 13.06.1894, 20.06.1894,
14.07.1894, 13.08.1894, 14.09.1894 and 15.09.1894
All copies are postmarked Esslingen Bahnhof.
PLATE 2

Type 2 - 149 to154 mm wide; 297 to 301 mm deep, horiz lines are144 mm
I have copies postmarked 15.10.1894, 16.10.1894, 04.11.1894,
15.12.1894, 16.12.1894, 17.01.1895, 14.02.1895, 16.02.1895, 27.02.1895
and 14.03.1895
Type 3 - same as type 2 above but 159 to 160 mm wide; 320 to 321 mm deep
Copies postmarked 14.03.1895, 15.03.1895 and 19.03.1895
Type 4 - same as type 2 and 3 above, 157 to 159 mm wide; 308 to 310 mm
deep

Type 5 - 122 to 123 mm wide; 328 to 330 mm deep, header etc printed in
black
The copies I have are all postmarked 16.05.1895
Type 6 -
same as type 5 above, 123 to 125 mm wide; 318 to 320 mm deep, header
etc printed in black
The copies I have are all from May 1895 - 17.05.1895 and
22.05.1895

Type 7 - 143 mm wide, header etc printed in blue on white paper using
same plate as
type 5
I have copies dated 13.07.1895, 14.08.1895, 17.08.1896 and 18.09.1896
Type 8 - as type 7 but printed in black ink
I have
copies dated
18.09.1895, 15.11.1895, 18.09.1896, 04.10.1896, 24.10.1896

Type 9 - 143 mm wide, printed on yellow paper in maroon
Only one date 14.10.1895
Type 10 - as type 7, blue header, but on yellowish paper
Only one date 20.11.1895, 23.05.1896

Type 11 - 143mm wide, as types 5 to 9, brownish-grey header, yellowish
paper
I have copies dated 17.02.1896, 18.05.1896, 19.06.1896, 13.07.1896,
18.07.1896, 17.08.1896

Type 12 - 143 mm wide, black header, yellow-orange paper
Copies are postmarked 23.01.1897,12.02.1897, 22.02.1897, 22.03.1897 and
23.06.1897

Type 13 - as type 12 "An Herrn" added, 143 mm wide, black header,
yellow-orange paper
Copies are postmarked
21.04.1897, 23.05.1897 and 27.06.1897

Type 14 - 115 mm to 117 mm wide, grey header, white paper, break in
line below "Dr" of "Drucksache"
Copies postmarked 21.07.1897 and 22.07.1897

Type 15 - black header, salmon paper, 133mm wide

Type 16 - text is centred over the top horizontal line and there
is no break in this line, black header, salmon paper, 133mm wide

Postmarks on copies I have are 22.01.1898, 27.01.1898 and 28.02.1898
This is a work in progress based on copies I have at present.
The type numbers are temporary and will change as new items are
identified.
